Life at Kaviyan

34 people in nine countries, one shared timeline.
Shoreditch studio, London
01The role

As Staff Rendering Engineer, fully remote, you will own the cloud render pipeline: scheduling, GPU utilization, encoding and the cost of every minute rendered. It sits behind every export and every shot Nova generates.

The problem

Render volume grew four times in a year. We need someone who enjoys finding the next thirty percent, and who can explain the trade-offs to the rest of the company.

Your first six months

A median 4K, 60fps export under ninety seconds, queue times that stay flat during launches, and a render bill that grows slower than usage.

Reports to

Ravi Menon, Lead Engineer

02What you will do

  • Own the cloud render pipeline and its roadmap
  • Improve GPU scheduling, caching and encoder settings
  • Build dashboards for speed, failures and cost per minute
  • Work with the Editor team on preview and export parity
  • Lead incident reviews for render outages
03What you bring

Eight or more years in graphics, video or distributed systems

Hands-on experience with GPU workloads at scale

Strong knowledge of video encoding and color pipelines

Proficient in at least one systems language

Calm, clear communication during incidents

04Nice to have

Open-source encoder internals
Container orchestration on GPU nodes
Shader compilers
Experience at a render farm or streaming company
